Climate litigation in Brazil: Court Cases

The Brazilian Climate Litigation Platform is a database dedicated to gathering information on Brazilian climate litigation cases. In order for a case to be considered climate litigation and therefore integrated into this database, the case must have been filed before the Brazilian Judiciary, and must be directly related to climate change by having it as a peripheral theme, one of its themes, or as its central theme.

For a better understanding of the selection criteria and classification of cases, please download the methodology developed especially for this database.

We at JUMA hope that this database will aid in expanding the application of environmental licensing to climate issues, or in climate litigation for compliance with licensing requirements.

Happy research!
